"No matter the genre, when you connect with something and it inspires you to create, that is art to me. " - L. M.
Born and raised in the heart of San Francisco, Lea (affectionately known as Lulu) started showing promise as a fine artist at the tender age of 10 when she started painting and sketching for family and friends. She recalls her earliest influence being Michelangelo. His attention to detail while letting the true texture and design show through fascinated her. As she began her schooling, artists like Gauguin, David Hockney and Diebenkorn started expanding her mind in different ways. She had her first showing at the age of 19 with rave reviews.
Now looking to Bernard Buffet, Kim Cogan and Cézanne for inspiration, she has created her own voice with a lot to say. Whether it be rock and roll, influential women or a landscape from her world travels, she creates such unique textures and energy in her paintings. Her recent move to Portland, OR has allowed her to put all her energy into her passion and share it with the world.
